EXPLOSIVE CONVERSATION

On the 26 Bus, 1pm Saturday, St Pauls

Woman (about 45, northern) "That bloke looked like he meant trouble don't you reckon?"

Man (similar age, northerness) "Yep, he did."

Queue a massive explosive sound, like a pipe bursting or a sandwich bag being burst.

Woman "What did you do that for?"

Man (as if in passing) "I farted in the bag."

Woman "What did you do that for?"

Man "I farted in the bag."

Woman "I'll ask you one more time, what did you do that for?"

Man "I farted in the bag."

PSYCHLEPATH'S DIARY PART 1

Bikes overtaken - 14

Bikes overtaking me - 0

Another 100% ratio, auguring well for the day ahead. A man who looked like Clive Sinclair, wearing  a helmet, cycling shoes, shorts and reflective pads attempted to pass me on Gray's Inn Road riding a fold up bike but I rapidly and deftly devoured him, leaving him eating my dust. Do not dress like a pro when you still need stabilisers, ho.

KILLING TIME

There is one more day of term left before the summer holidays and we are in a zombie like state, a parallel universe where everyone has to be here but no-one wants to be. As you wander around the school you can see the flicker of the DVDs that are playing in virtually every room, despite the instructions from the boss to 'work them to the wire'. Yeah right. Everything is at a snail's pace - the boys slope around aimlessly, the teachers desperate to get on that plane to kick back, relax and erase the memories, rewire the brain so they can come back and start a fresh. I sit here typing this as the boys play the latest flash games on the net which they have managed to access circumnavigating the useless filter. The first day the filter went up some of them managed to get around it and download some porn - how? google images is not filtered! genius. What shall I fill my time with? lazy days taking in a bit of Modigliani and Hodgkin, seeing Lolo smile for the first time and dancing til dawn at the big chill. Easy now.

ALL THAT GLITTERS

It started with the stars in the floor, sparkling up at me as my feet clipped the ground. There was nothing vehement in my need to tread quickly but as the sound of plastic being trodden reverberated gently in the underground corridor of the mainframe building I felt rage coursing into my legs like a subterranean supernova of the ankles. Whoever put glitter in plastic floor covering needed lobotomising. Someone holds the door open. Charity in the eye. Outside I look at the sky. No stars. I hold the door open for the person behind me.
