MAYONAKANO GUITAR

This is an old classic song from Japan. It was originally credited wrongly and removed swiftly from this site. Apologies to Guitar & Junko Yanagida who still wish to post this beautiful ballad on Concrete & Clay.

My favorite by far is “Guitar – Mayonakano Guitar” I think it’s the layered vocals: they make for a beautiful little canvas for the song to kind of drift along on. I can tell it’s a love song. Or I think it is anyhow. The introduction in English is JUNKO' s voice asking audiences how his/her day was, and asking them if they like the guitar: the girl hope they do. Then I can’t make out what Junko say/sing here, but it’s something about “I hope you’re listening tonight”. Very lovey-dovey stuff, the kind of things Junko says to someone she wants: then later on in the song the girl ask this person “why don’t you stay here tonight” very sweet stuff. JUNKO captured that perfect moment when the girl gets the one she want, or at least lay it out on the line that she wants them. It’s such a pretty melody with the rounding lyrics, and the acoustic guitar. It reminds me very much of Kim Deal. I don’t know if Junko knows her, but Mis Kim was the bass player and (female) singer in the Pixies, and later she had her own band called the Breeders. She’s notorious for these milky-sweet, super-dreamy, kind of syrupy love songs that just sort of melt Junko. She has a very sweet and innocent voice like JUNKO's. I must say I’m a fan of both. Once again I really want to know what the lyrics say, but I guess I’ll never know unless I take it upon myself to learn Japanese. But I guess if JUNKO can learn English, then I could probably learn Japanese???
