Bikes overtaking me - 1
A crafty courier sped past me as I needlessly slowed down for the lights at Old Street roundabout. I peddaled furiously and ultimately in vain to catch up with his one-geared delivery machine. Livid and incandescent I took a new route through St George's Park, a hidden graveyard in St Pancras to assuage my rage and found myself riding behind an old man with clips on his trouser bottoms. The sight of his socks so enclosed moved me almost to tears and I derived a new and exciting comfort from riding behind him as he took massive loping detours to avoid the ducks and old people on the pavement in the park i'd normally spray with grit. Left him standing at the end of the park, bike number 11 of the day.
