don't you think you will get more hits for the number 1 song just because its listed in the MP3 category as number 1, thus never knocking it off its top spot?

Yar...
Flowers and the other top 6 tracks got real popular last year, and are now linked all over the internet....
so they get downloaded from loads of sites, not just this one....
hence their chart stickiness...
these files actually get requested a couple of thousands times a month by podcast spiders and such like....
but if you look at the amount of data transfered, that's how I get the stats...
