SITTING ON THE SIDEWALK

Start time 1pm, the weather was nice and the people were out in force to see M.I.A. live.

The Honourable Mr. Vegas was flown over from Kingston to perform as the opening act. All the classic Vegas was great but he also performed some of his new material which had everyone going mad. But by the end of his set, the finnicky attention deficient New Yorkers were clearly not interested anymore.

M.I.A.'s DJ, Diplo, from Philly, began what was to be his hour long set of jams from today and way back when. But people were still walkin' around sayin' "Hey, do you know when M.I.A. is on? This is taking too long."

Diplo kept shouting into the P.A. things like, "Cm'on NY, M.I.A. ain't comin out till I've done my thang, I'll make sure of that!" and "Cm'on, lets dance NY, don't you guys like to DANCE?!". Apparently not for him.

When M.I.A. finally came out (6pm!), the crowd had pretty much lost its zest and the chemistry between artist and audience was not all there. I had fought my nascent agoraphobia to go to this show. Its a good thing it was free.

Anyway, walking back home, I got a picture of this guy sitting on the sidewalk. It made the whole day worth while, I guess.
