LOOKING BACK

When I was a very young man, just beginning to make my way, I was invited to dine at the home of a distinguished philanthropist. After a dinner of Bernard Matthews mini kievs and oven chips our hostess led us to an enormous drawing room. I was relieved that I had had the foresight to bring my pens. Other guests were pouring in, and my eyes beheld two unnerving sights: servants playing toppless table tennis; and up in front, a circle of small gilt chairs around a piano. I was in for an evening of chamber music.

Times have changed, England is at war with terror and nothing will be the same again, maybe that is a good thing. I'm getting a bike tomorrow then I just have to worry about being knocked off it. I love to love, but my baby just loves to dance.
