YOU BOY! DON'T THROW THAT OUT OF THE WINDOW

I could see it out of the corner of my eye, glinting in the sunlight as it flicked between his fingers. He must have been bored rigid or if I am being kind to myself the kind of teen male who simply has to be doing something all of the time. And then it just seemed to happen, almost in slow motion. A too quick flick of the wrist and the pen jumped out of his hand and gently glided out of the third floor window into the playground below. Our eyes met, not a word was exchanged. He knew, I knew. The silence was broken by his neighbour, "Sir, Simon has just thrown his pen out of the window, can he go and get it?" "No". I turned away and smiled inwardly. Inner city classroom life.

THE TRUTH

Last week Concrete and Clay were invited to a special screening of The Truth at the prestigious Soho Hotel, London. A debut feature film from "2manyexecutives" with an excellent cast (you will recognise the actors from good TV and Hollywood films) a superbly twisted story of acceptance, denial and diss-illusion, set in the Scottish highlands. I have no idea when this is out, but I suggest you quiz your cinema managers or write to your local MP for more details.

ENCOMPASS MUSIC

Encompass is London's first global music conference, "embracing the future and celebrating our musical heritage" ...a new editition to the yearly music calendar?

An interesting line up of speakers, musicians, djs and producers are involved, and falling over the bank holiday weekend April 29th-May 1st, this sounds like a lot of fun. Electronic music, bands, and information.

So if you have enough dollar, or your name opens doors like sesame, be there!

Supported by The Old Truman Brewery, DJ Magazine, Cybersonica, the Association of Independent Music (AIM), the British Phonographic Institute (BPI), the Music Managers Forum (MMF), Cantaloupe Group, Cargo, Herbal, 93 Feet East, Plastic People, The End, and Turnmills.
